Insurrection Day depicts events as they unfolded at and around the US Capitol on January 6, 2021. Culled from video archives of participants in the insurrection, the footage displays the desperate and often violent actions of an electorate that believe they were lied to regarding the outcome of the 2020 presidential election. Recorded on personal devices, the videos were then shared to alt-right social media sites, as well as more mainstream platforms, before being removed by either the platforms or the participants themselves. Insurrection Day is an aggregate of those recordings.
