CONSPIRACY THEORY

January 24 – 26, 2020 Single-Channel Version of a 2-Channel Video

Proyectos Raúl Zamudio 78 Jane Street New York, NY

Opening: Friday, January 24, 7–9PM The first installment of TOMORROW PEOPLE, “Conspiracy Theory” is a synchronized two-channel video installation that addresses issues of social paranoia and civil distrust.

Set-up by a clip from Rainer Werner Fassbinderʼs “Welt am Draht (World On A Wire)”–a 70s television sci-fi drama about simulated realities–the video covers topics from government involvement in the attacks of September 11, 2001 to government cover-up of aliens at Area 5l, world domination by the "high priests of globalization" known as the Bilderberg, human invention of the HIV/AIDS virus, and the bizarre "reptilian agenda".

Incorporating audio and video excerpts from syndicated radio talk show hosts, international conspiracists, amateur documentary filmmakers' theories regarding 9/ll and the mysterious Commander X, the video addresses some of today's leading conspiracies relayed by their most evocative proponents. Set to a fast-paced dance track, the work functions as both critique and parody while raising the question–what if all is not as it seems?
